Glass on Glasshouse
You can’t beat Glass on Glasshouse for a secluded and stylish getaway nestled in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, surrounded by 25-million-year-old volcanic plugs.
It feels like you’re miles from anywhere, but you’re only 50 minutes north of Brisbane, and 25 minutes from the coast, surrounded by all that the Sunshine Coast has to offer. Glass on Glasshouse is also midway (about 50 minutes) between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane airports so it is easily accessible for interstate and international visitors.
Couples on a romantic getaway will love:
There are many romantic cottages on the Sunshine Coast, but what makes Glass on Glasshouse so different is that these cottages are very modern, light and spacious. There are three cottages from which you can experience magnificent views of the Glasshouse Mountains through floor-to-ceiling walls of glass in your luxurious architect-designed self-contained cottage. The glass walls extend on two sides of the building so you can experience the wonderful views from any room. You may be inside, but it feels as if you’re outside in the stunning surroundings. Also, if you feel like a little indulgence there’s a local massage service that is only too happy to give you an in-cottage massage.
Sunshine Coast Hinterland accommodation:
You'll love watching wild kangaroos from your spacious lounge or large deck, relaxing in the decadent freestanding romantic spa bath and awakening to the sound of Kookaburras or black cockatoos whilst you enjoy your complimentary breakfast basket. Sleep soundly in the king-size bed and be mesmerised by the eco-smart open fire in winter. There's also free Wi-Fi, and an iPod dock and Bluetooth Receiver integrated with a whole-of-house sound system so you can listen to your own music from any room. If music be the food of love, play on...
Best room for two on a romantic getaway:
The cottages are all identical, however you need to book ahead to secure your romantic stay due to the popularity of this gorgeous retreat.
Dining and leisure:
The cottages are self-contained, allowing couples the option to cook. If you'd prefer to let someone else do the cooking, visit the on-site café or go for a scenic drive to one of the local restaurants – whatever takes your fancy.
The region is an ideal place for bushwalkers, climbers, cyclists, bird-watchers, artists, photographers and couples who just need to get away from it all and breathe some fresh country air. Go strawberry picking or whale watching from June to November, go walking in the spectacular Glasshouse Mountains, visit the many local markets (the most famous being the Eumundi Markets) or a winery or cheese factory. Or, simply enjoy a pleasant country drive and admire the wonderful vistas.
The world-famous Australia Zoo is an easy fifteen minutes away, the nearest Mountain walk a mere five minutes away, and the charming mountaintop villages of Maleny and Montville with their many cafes and art and craft shops only 25 to 35 minutes from the retreat.
