Escape the winter blues in the Whitsundays

As the temperatures start to drop and winter is creeping in, there has never been a better time to escape to the warmth of Tropical North Queensland’s Whitsundays. The Whitsundays are bouncing back post Tropical Cyclone Debbie, and travellers are being encouraged to return to the warmer weather of the islands and surround region.

Getting there just got cheaper also, as Tigerair Australia announces fares on sale from just $33* each way between Brisbane and Whitsunday Coast Airport (also known as Proserpine Airport) and from just $66* between Sydney and Whitsunday Coast Airport, for travel period extending from 18 May to 28 June.

Tigerair Australia recently added additional services to fly six weekly return services between Sydney and the Whitsundays and in March launched four weekly return services between Brisbane and Whitsundays, providing in total, close to 200,000 visitor seats annually through Whitsunday Coast Airport, in response to consumer demand.

Meanwhile, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said credit must go to the tourism operators, Whitsundays Mayor Andrew Willcox, Tourism Whitsundays and Ergon Energy, who have all worked so hard over the past weeks to get things back up and running.

Tourism Minister Kate Jones, added that tourism was the “lifeblood” of the Whitsundays, and a new $10 million marketing campaign will showcase the Whitsundays to the world and Australia.

“We are saying very clearly that you can holiday here in the Whitsundays – it is not only beautiful but it is truly restored, thanks to everyone working around the clock – and we would encourage those with holidays booked to follow through, and those who are planning a holiday to consider the Whitsundays, as the welcome mat is well and truly out.”
