Kamalaya Winning Awards In 2016

Thailand's Wellness Sanctuary and Holistic Spa resort, Kamalaya, is adding to a successful 2016 with two new awards.

Kamalaya was awarded 'Spa Cuisine of the Year' at the annual AsiaSpa Awards in Hong Kong last month. Shortlisted alongside five other reputable properties from India and Southeast Asia, Kamalaya received this accolade for their Inspired Healthy Cuisine, which is an integral part of Kamalaya’s holistic wellness concept.

Kamalaya co-founder, Karina Stewart, and team of chefs have created a colourful menu that is both healing and delicious, by combining fundamental principles of ancient Asian healing traditions with current research.

“Every dish is flavoured with the skill and passion of our kitchen hosts and we feel truly grateful to see their daily dedication being recognised,” said Stewart.

“At Kamalaya, we view food as medicine and hope our guests feel inspired to use this powerful healing tool and continue eating healthily when they return back home,” she added.

AsiaSpa is Asia’s premier spa and wellbeing magazine, and with the awards it is setting a benchmark for spas in the region and around the world.

In addition, Kamalaya was selected as a multiple winner at the 2016 Spafinder Wellness 365 Travel Awards in London, including the Crystal Award “Best in Asia” as well as its fifth Country Award “Best in Thailand”.

Each year, Spafinder also gives Category Awards to the worldwide top ten properties that offer exceptional wellness experiences in each of the 20 categories. With a total of nine Category Awards, Kamalaya reached this year’s highest score within the group of category winners and was chosen as among the Best for Nutrition & Healthy Cuisine, Best Eco-friendly & Sustainable Property, Best for Going Solo, Best for Mind & Spirit, Best for the "Wow" Factor, Best for Yoga, Best Hidden Gem, Best Ahead-of-the-Curve Innovation and Best Weight Loss Program.

Centred around a monk's cave that once served Buddhist monks as a place of meditation and spiritual retreat, Kamalaya's essence is expressed in its name, 'Lotus Realm (kamal alaya)', an ancient symbol for the growth and unfolding of the human spirit.
