Visit Queensland's Scenic Rim for a weekend away. Queensland's Scenic Rim region is found towards its south east and is full of natural wonders. From mountain ranges to forests and a number of national parks, it's a great place to visit with a loved one for a relaxing weekend away. Here's how you can spend 48 hours in the Scenic Rim.

Friday

Make your way to the Scenic Rim, which is only about an hour's drive from the city of Brisbane. Settle in for dinner at the Vineyard Grill, which is located at the beautiful vineyard Albert River Wines. it serves up delicious fresh food inspired by the local surroundings, with stunning views of the vines, Tamborine Mountain and Hinterland to match. Dine on the large open veranda and enjoy a delicious grilled meal, whether it's a steak, chicken or seafood meal you're craving.

Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk

Saturday morning

It's time to explore some of the beauty of the Scenic Rim. Why not begin with a thrilling adventure to the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk? This wonderful journey takes you up into the forest canopy for 1.4km along the steel-structured Skywalk Bridge, Cantilever and Cedar Creek Viewing Platform.  Safe, fun, exciting and a wonderful way to take in the area's scenery, it's not to be missed.

Head to nearby DeliVino for lunch. It's a restaurant, wine bar, cafe, deli and cellar door all in one, so there are plenty of culinary wonders for you to enjoy. Top it all off with a craft beer, boutique wine or a cheeky cocktail.

Saturday afternoon

Stretch your legs with a walk around Mt French. There are two short tracks on offer and you certainly don't have to be a hiker extraordinaire to tackle them. Try the North Cliff Track, which only takes about 15 minutes to complete. This leads to Logan's Lookout, with beautiful views of the peaks such as Mt Greville, Moon and Edwards all around.

Then there's the Mee-bor-rum Circuit, which takes about 25 minutes in total. This provides amazing views of the surrounding valleys, mountains and eucalypt forest. The landscape here is incredibly unique, so take the time to soak it all in.

When you've taken plenty of pictures, head somewhere like the Simon's Tavern for your evening meal, found along 88 High Street, Boonah. This establishment has a pub-like atmosphere and decor, but offers an outstanding menu with a difference. The focus is on great service and meals with local, seasonal and fresh ingredients. Try a juicy char-grilled steak, pan fried barramundi, chicken pesto or a delicious curry.

Sunday morning

Make your way to Mount Barney National Park, which is World Heritage-listed by UNESCO. It's home to some impressive and rugged mountains - Mount Barney, Mount Maroon, Mount May, Mount Lindesay, Mount Ernest, Mount Ballow and Mount Clunie. Mount Barney itself is the second-highest peak in the region. Why is the park so special? Its untouched habitats and rare plant and wildlife are incredibly special. If you take a hike in the area, you might catch a glimpse of endangered species such as the eastern bristlebird and Coxen's fig-parrot.

Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm

Sunday afternoon

Wind down your amazing experience with a glass of wine or two at a beautiful local winery. The Kooroomba Vineyard and
Lavender Farm is a great option, with its cellar door, restaurant and lavender fields and shop. You'll feel as though you've been transported to rural France.Try a tasting and treat yourself to one of the local varietals of Chardonnay, Verdelho Marsanne, Vermintino, Shiraz, Cabernet or Merlot.

Savour a gourmet meal at the Kooroomba Vineyards Restaurant and look out over the stunning purple fields of lavender and green vines. You'll also get to take in beautiful panoramas of the surrounding Scenic Rim mountains. With such beautiful scenery, food and wine on offer in this region, you'll likely be back in no time.
