Experience the beauty of Port Douglas with a loved one

Tropical Queensland is an oasis for loved-up couples looking for lovely spots to relax in each other's company - and there's no place like the seaside resort town of Port Douglas for weekend getaways in Australia.

With a long, white sand beach, warm water and a quaint township lined with palm trees, it's the perfect spot for a lovers' jaunt.

There's no shortage of idyllic accommodation, so you and your loved one can wake up each morning in luxury with a beautiful view and any creature comforts you desire.

Enjoy a stroll down the beach together and check out what's on offer along the beautiful main street. There are plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars offering delicious breakfasts, tasty coffees and sumptuous dinners. Why not grab an outdoor table and dine by candlelight at one of them?

Or, in the middle of a balmy day, savour ice creams as you wander the streets, popping your head into high-end shops and quirky craft stores.

On Sundays, walk hand-in-hand at the markets in Anzac Park, full of arts, crafts and food. Make sure you get some kind of memento that encapsulates your experience together in this town.

While many couples won't want to stray much further from their hotel than to the beach and the town, couples yearning to share in an adventure won't be disappointed either.

You can take a cruise out to the Great Barrier Reef and snorkel or dive, exploring the coral and interacting with the colourful tropical fish.

Or why not take a drive to the Daintree rainforest? At the Daintree you spend time exploring the scenery and even take a ride on the 'Skyline,' where you're transported above the treetops in a carriage for an awe-inspiring view of the rainforest canopy and horizon.
