Emerald paddy fields, crystalline waters, forest teeming with life – these are just some of the wonders you can discover at Langkawi, an archipelago of Malaysian islands.
1. Enjoy the beaches
Brimming with beautiful beaches, villages and an authentic, more untouched way of life, travelling to Langkawi offers both tropical bliss and an exciting look into culture and island life. Whether it's a relaxing beachside holiday unwinding in luxury accommodation you're after, or something with a little more cultural exploration or outdoor adventures, there's something for you.
See the islands from a stunning viewpoint up the top of the 850m high Gunung Mat Cincang mountain. Head up in a cable car or take a walk, and be sure to stay and dine at the mouthwatering buffet restaurant with a view. From this vantage point, you'll see some of the stunning white sand beaches dotted throughout the archipelago. If you're looking for well-developed beaches with plenty of facilities, check out Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah in particular. For more dramatic and untouched beach vistas, make your way to Pantai Kok. Here you can experience peace and serenity, while exploring the surrounding limestone cliffs and jungle. There's also the thriving Telaga Harbour Park yachting marine with shops, bars and restaurants to enjoy.
2. Go shopping
Tanjung Rhu and Datai Bay are also great beaches for those looking for a touch of luxury. Don't miss the chance to go shopping in this bargain-filled, duty free island. From high fashion to trinkets and souvenirs, Langkawi has it all. Saga Shopping Centre is a great one-stop shopping destination, as is the Langkawi Fair Shopping Mall. When it comes to gorgeous hand-crafted boutique items, you can't beat the Amitabha Primitive Art store. For lovers of chocolate, alcohol, perfume and other goods, Coco Valley is not to be missed. Any really serious about their favourite scents, however, should visit Cote De Perfume in Kuah.

3. Visit Underwater World
Of course, a trip to Langkawi wouldn't be the same without a visit to Underwater World, a magnificent aquarium spread across almost six acres. Get up close and personal with seals, penguins, sharks, rays and many other forms of marine life as you walk through the underwater tunnel tank. There are three distinct themed sections within the complex: The Tropical Rainforest, Temperate and Sub-Antarctic zones. If wildlife is your thing, don't miss Langkawi Bird Paradise and Wildlife Park either, which is home to canaries, owls, eagles, toucans, hornbills and flamingos.
Couples' getaways to Langkawi wouldn't be complete without their fair share of spas, restaurants and divine luxury accommodation. Try the sambal grilled fish at BNZ Sempoy'y Nasi Campur, and don't miss sinking your teeth into fusion Mediterranean and Asian flavours dining beachside at La Sal Dinner at Pantai Cenang. Enhance your getaway or tropical honeymoon with a spa experience, which can take place in a luxurious spa facility or even out and about amongst nature. The Berjaya Langkawi Beach & Spa Resort, for example, offers relaxing and rejuvenating massages in the lush rainforest, while The Andaman Spa offers unique seaweed baths and volcanic mud wraps with stunning views of Datai Bay and the Andaman Sea.
Top off your romantic getaway with a sunset dinner cruise out on the gorgeous azure waters, floating by small deserted islets aboard a yacht that's even complete with its own well-stocked bar. Here you can truly unwind and watch the sun set with your loved one by your side, the horizon lit up the sky a dozen shades of pink, blue and orange.
With all this and more on offer at Langkawi, it's the perfect place for a dreamy island getaway, exploration and adventure or blissful honeymoon. All you need to do is get there and the islands will make all of your dreams come true.
