One of the world's fastest growing niche travel trends – glamping – is taking off in Malaysia, combining camping with luxurious outdoor experiences.

Tourism Malaysia recently unveiled its pavilion themed 'Back Into Wilderness' at Royal FLORIA Putrajaya – Malaysia's largest flower and garden festival. The emerging glamping scene is perfect for those who want to make the most of the wealth of natural attractions Malaysia has to offer, but also desire their creature comforts.

While it is a relatively new concept in Malaysia, several accommodation operators have already started offering unique nature-based experiences combined with the comfortability of modern amenities. Among them are Canopy Tribes in Nusajaya, Johor, where guests can stay in gauzy tents under moonlit skies in an experience reminiscent of Arabian Nights. Or, at Sailor's Rest, couples can enjoy the experience of village life in the cool, misty highlands of Janda Baik, Pahang.

While most glamping experiences currently available are focused on comfort and convenience, there are a handful that offer deluxe glamping experiences such as Sekeping Serendah in Rawang, Selangor, with its dramatic mud and glass houses. These mud and glass houses are located in a small forest alongside cascading waterfalls. Or, there's Japamala Resort in Tioman Island with its romantic treetop love-nests overlooking azure seas below.
