Phillip Island is just over 90 minutes from Melbourne and is a great winter getaway for visitors to Victoria to include on their travel itinerary, or for local Melbournites looking for a romantic weekend getaway.

Boasting the perfect climate for snuggling up in front of fireplaces and a gorgeous selection of cosy accommodation, plus fabulous restaurants and outdoor activities, couples will discover that there is more to this gorgeous getaway than just penguins (as cute as they are!).

Food lovers will particularly love Phillip Island with a range of local outlets having garnered fantastic reviews. From The Cape Kitchen, which opened in early 2015 and who has made a name for itself for serving the best local produce which dictates the changing breakfast and lunch menu to The Shearing Shed, just on the outskirts of Cowes and located in an original 1950s shearing shed, complete with cosy open fire and delicious local produce, many of which are sourced from the restaurant’s own kitchen garden.

If you are kind of couple that likes to be active on holiday, there is plenty here to keep you busy. Take Wild Ocean EcoBoat Adventure Tour, which weaves its way beyond the island’s shores on a high speed tour of the rugged coastline, as an example. Or, a new luxury tour company promising to take travellers off the beaten tourist track and offering an insider tour with up to 10 people traveling in a spacious Mercedes minibus. Or explore Phillip Island on foot with picturesque walking trails which can be found in every direction.

A group of local boutique operators are currently offering special winter getaway packages. Visit Phillip Island and start planning your winter romantic weekend getaway now.
